New this week: Research participant requests, new updates in Advocacy Corner

MCA Partnership with Argosy University

MCA would like to remind it's members of the exciting partnership with Argosy University, Northern VA that affords a 30% partnership agreement rate to MCA members accepted into Argosy University, Northern VA's EdD in Counselor Education and Supervision, EdD in Counseling Psychology, and MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling degree programs. This 30% partnership agreement rate will be for the duration of the degree.

This partnership gives an opportunity for qualified students to obtain a tuition reduction at Argosy University, Northern VA.

The Impact of Spirituality and Religion on Reintegration Needs of Women Veterans

Please consider participating in a doctoral candidate's research study on the Impact of Spirituality and Religion on Reintegration Needs of Women Veterans.

Eligible participants for this study must meet the following criteria: 

  • Women veterans who are 25-years-old or older.
  • Served in the United States Armed Forces during the military conflicts of Operation Iraqi Freedom or Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan, and
  • Have been discharged from active duty military service within the last 24-months.
The online survey will take approximately 20-30 minutes to complete. If you are willing to participate in this study, please click here to complete the survey.


 Advocacy Corner

April is: National Minority Health Month

In an effort to bring awareness to issues of minority health, the 107th Congress in House Concurrent Resolution 388 established a National Minority Health and Health Disparities Month for April. The National Board of Certified Counselors (NBCC) sponsors fellowships to counselors who pledge to reduce mental health disparities. Take this month to bring awareness to minority health issues by:
  • Learning about cause of inequities that impact minorities mental health
  • Gain an understanding of unjust and inequities within the systems and advocate for change
  • Conduct research on mental health inequities and recommend resolutions
Fun Run in Annapolis, Maryland

On April 29, 2017, the Champions for Children Anne Arundel County 5K Fun Run will be held in lovely Quiet Waters Park in Annapolis, MD. This 5K course is USATF certified and is open to runners/families with strollers and runners with dogs (on leash)! The race registration fee covers entrance to the park! Come for the run and enjoy the many amenities of the park, which include a large playground, open fields, dog parks, water recreation, and gorgeous views of South River and the Chesapeake Bay. All proceeds from the run will benefit Harmony House, which provides a safe and comfortable setting where children and youth in foster care can visit with their families during the reunification process. The race is sponsored by the Family Assistance Fund, a 501(c)3 benefitting children and families in Anne Arundel County.
