Yoga Nidra and Relaxation for Children and Teens, by Dr. Gayle Cicero EdD, LCPC, NCC November 5, 2020 12-1:30pm via Zoom

This is an experiential session to learn about Yoga Nidra and the implications for counseling practice and counselor wellness. Participants should come prepared with two pillows, a blanket, and a mat (or sofa) to lie on for part of the session. Participants will leave this webinar with resources to use with children, teen, and adult clients. There will be small group discussions to process the experience of Yoga Nidra and to brainstorm ways to bring relaxation practices into the counseling process.
Attendees will 1) Learn what Yoga Nidra is and learn about some areas of research that have been conducted that are relevant to the work of a counselor/mental health professional. 2) Experience a Yoga Nidra Session and develop a script for a client (with a partner/small group) 3) Review resources that are available for use with students/clients.
Dr. Gayle Cicero spent 30 years working in public education in Maryland as a teacher, school counselor, pupil personnel worker, school administrator, supervisor of school counseling, and director of student services. Currently, Dr. Cicero is a full-time faculty member in the school counseling program at Loyola University of MD. She received her Ed.D in 2010, specializing in organizational leadership. Dr. Cicero is a proud graduate of Loyola’s School Counseling Master’s Program, and has completed significant post-masters course work resulting in a LCPC in MD with the capacity to supervise those seeking licensure in the state. With a strong background in trauma and ethics, Dr. Cicero brings real-life experience to the learning environment and has a special focus on Constructivist techniques for supervision. The learning approach is centered on experiential methods and dialogue.

Attendees may earn 1.5 NBCC Credit Hour; Zoom registration link will be emailed to attendees 48 hours before event. Registration will close at 40 attendees or 11/03/20, whichever is first.
