Description: MACES 2024 Conference Series 2, April 24 2024 12pm-1:30pm Live on Zoom. Integrating a Trauma-informed Approach to the Developmental Model of Supervision by Tracy Meyer, LCPC, and Breanna McNeal, MEd, Eds. 1.5 NBCC Clock Hours.
About the webinar: Supervisors will inevitably encounter counselors-in-training who have clients experiencing trauma, have been exposed to trauma vicariously, or triggered by their own trauma histories. The purpose of this presentation is to help supervisors understand and apply trauma-informed care through the lens of the developmental model of supervision. This presentation will cover the foundation of trauma-informed supervision, symptoms of VT and STS in supervisees, strategies of trauma-informed care using a developmental model of supervision, and ethical considerations for the supervisor-supervisee relationship.
Learning Objectives:
1. Define how the basic tenants of trauma-informed care can be applied to supervision in clinical practice.
2. Evaluate contributing factors and symptoms of vicarious trauma in both counselors-in-training and new professional counselors.
3. Demonstrate how to integrate strategies of trauma-informed care using a developmental model of supervision.
4. Identify and appraise ethical considerations for the supervisor-supervisee relationship when applying trauma informed supervision interventions.
