About the Webinar:
Researchers and advocates have called for a greater understanding of social class in counseling (Clark et al., 2018; Cook & Lawson, 2016), moving towards conceptualizing social class as a nuanced, intersectional experience. This interactive presentation aims to support counselor educators and supervisors in addressing social class with counselors-in-training (CITs) to increase social class consciousness (Lui, 2011). Building on original research, this presentation provides insight and opportunities for transforming opportunities to develop social class consciousness from a multicultural perspective.
Learning Objectives:
1. Identify and define key terms and concepts related to social class
2. Analyze the role of social class consciousness in counselor education and supervision.
3. Cultivate strategies for increasing social class consciousness and multicultural humility of counselors-in-training.
